IEX premarket price against the prior close.

Stocks point lower as oil rises after US strikes Iran.

Tone

The S&P 500 closed down 0.31%, the Dow down 0.69%, and the Nasdaq 100 roughly flat. Premarket, all three are lower: the S&P 500 by 0.62%, the Dow by 0.63%, the Nasdaq 100 by 1.22%. Premarket prices for the Russell 2000 are not in yet. The structure score is 33, leaning bearish: the longer trend is up, but the short trend has turned down and prices sit low in the recent range. For today, the near-term pressure outweighs the longer uptrend.

Oil rose after US strikes on Iran, and hawkish comments from Warsh reverberated. Anthropic signed a $35 billion cloud deal backed by Nvidia, a sign of continued AI spending. Nvidia also struck a $3.5 billion chip deal with MediaTek, which jumped 10%, though it revives the circular financing debate. Yet the Nasdaq 100 shows the largest premarket decline.
