Premarket trading is mixed: the Nasdaq 100 0.33% higher, the Dow 0.65% lower, the S&P 500 0.1% lower. The structure score of 36, leaning bearish, reflects an index near its range low and below its short-term average. The longer trend is still up, so the weakness is recent.
Futures are mixed ahead of the midterms. Howard Marks questioned Anthropic's valuation above $1.5 trillion, a cautionary note on AI stocks. Apple is the biggest company story: a record quarter and a booming iPhone business, yet the stock slides premarket. Its size makes the slide matter for the tech trade.
Job openings data comes at 10:00 ET. Shopify, Pfizer, Eaton, Marathon Petroleum and Ferrari report before the open. AMD, Amgen, Arista Networks, Booking Holdings and Suncor follow after the close.
